Adhesive Tape

Adhesive tapes make without doubt part of our lives we use them for numerous daily tasks close boxes, plastic bags delimit paintings (walls, gates, cars) mending electrical wires mending water tubes paste carpets, marks on pavement etc…

Remember that adhesive tapes should be applied with a slight pressure on the entire surface. These surfaces should be clean and dry without dust. Moisture or grease. The adhesives lose quality with the passage of time reason why we should not store the adhesive tapes for periods superior to 6 months. Adhesive tapes with a PVC or Hot Melt adhesive tape are very susceptible to changes in temperature and especially in cold conditions. Avoid storing these products in an environment with a temperature below 10º C.

The most important market for adhesive tapes is currently the packaging market. It is estimated that 65% of all tape production will go to this market. These adhesive tapes consist of two components: the carrier and the adhesive.

The most common supports are:

• Paper – this is kraft paper finished on the surface.
• PVC (polyvinyl chlorine) – Soft in the application and elastic has as obstacles to its commercialization the high price and the difficulties in the treatment of the residues to which it originates.
• PP (Polypropylene) – It is very strong (it is very difficult to cut it without the aid of an unwinder) and very transparent, this last feature allows to use colored adhesives to obtain colored adhesive tapes and printing on the inner side of the film giving an impression of great quality without the danger of dropping the ink.

The most common adhesives are:

• Solvent (Natural Rubber) – It is an adhesive made from gum obtained from the “rubber tree”. This resin dissolves with special solvents and is applied on the support. It’s a great bonding adhesive. This adhesive gives the ribbon the typical caramel color.
• Hot Melt – This adhesive is based on synthetic glue that heats up to liquefy and applies on the carrier.
• Acrylic – This is undoubtedly the most eco-friendly adhesive is water-based and easy to apply, when the correct amount (minimum 22 m) gives excellent bonding results. This sticker allows to be colored getting tapes of different colors.
